The Problem

Every Child Deserves More Than One Month of Black History

Most schools confine Black history to February — and even then, it's the same handful of figures. Your child's understanding of American history shouldn't depend on a school calendar.

28 Days Isn't Enough

Black history spans continents and centuries. Cramming it into the shortest month of the year shortchanges every child's education.

The Same Five Names

MLK, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman — all important. But what about Mae Jemison, Mary Wilson, Charlotte E. Ray, and hundreds more your child has never heard of?

Parents Shouldn't Have to Scramble

You know your child needs this, but finding quality, age-appropriate content week after week is a full-time job. We did the work so you don't have to.

Why Now

Across the country, Black history is being removed from classrooms, curricula are being revised, and books are being pulled from shelves.

You don't have to wait for the school system to get it right. The Because of Them We Can® 52-Week Curriculum puts a full year of lessons directly in your hands — so no policy, no revision, and no book ban can decide what your child learns.

When they take it out of the classroom, bring it to the kitchen table.

Parents & Educators Love This Curriculum

★★★★★

"LOVED it! Some of the kids were so amazed at the legends. One student selected Ruth Carter — she didn't know who she was, but after reading she said she was SO lucky because she wants to be a fashion designer. They also loved the activities!"

"The way the information was presented gave them a connection. Especially seeing the younger pictures on the front, then seeing the actual person and learning their story on the inside. Powerful."

★★★★★

"I have one student that wrote an AMAZING essay after reading the March on Washington lesson. This curriculum inspires kids to think deeper and connect with history in ways textbooks never could."

Common Questions

What ages is this curriculum for?

We offer two versions: Ages 5–8 (Little Explorers) with read-aloud stories, coloring, and simpler vocabulary, and Ages 9–12 (Rising Historians) with deeper analysis, primary sources, and critical thinking questions. Both cover the same trailblazers at different depth levels.

How does the digital download work?

After purchase, you'll receive a secure download link via email within minutes. The curriculum is a PDF you can print at home as many times as you need, or view on any tablet or computer. The download link is valid for 48 hours, so be sure to save your files.

Can I use this in my classroom?

Absolutely. A single purchase lets you print unlimited copies for your own classroom — no per-student fees. Lessons are standards-aligned, so you can use them during instructional time. If you want to bring the curriculum to multiple classrooms or your entire school, our school-wide license gives every teacher access. Every lesson includes parent/teacher guides with learning objectives and ways to expand the learning beyond the pages.

Who are the trailblazers featured?

52 trailblazers spanning arts, science, sports, civil rights, business, and more. From well-known figures like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Maya Angelou to lesser-known pioneers like Dr. Charles Drew, Mary Wilson, and Charlotte E. Ray. Every child will discover heroes they've never learned about.

What's the difference between the Digital and Printed Binder?

The Digital PDF ($99) gives you instant access to download, print, and use right away. The Printed Binder ($199) ships a professionally printed, hardcover-bound version to your door and also includes the digital PDF for free. Both contain the full 52-week curriculum.
